Sempco X-Ray
is an Independent Dealer which means that we represent different products
from many different manufacturers. By representing so many brands
and types of products, we are better able to tailor a solution for any
given project or budget. This has never been more evident than in these current "digital times".
For example: An orthopedic practice has very particular needs when
transitioning to digital. Lets say for this example that they have
chosen CR (Computed Radiography) technology. While one manufacturer
may offer a great orthopedic x-ray system, a different manufacturer might
have a better CR system and then depending on how the digital images are
needed to be accessed, yet another manufacturer offers a better PACS
(Picture Archive Communication System). We are able to seamlessly
blend together these different components from different manufacturers and
give the customer a solution to their needs that does exactly what they
want it to do.

Direct
Radiography (DR) |
|
Direct
Radiography systems are digital film-less images acquisition modalities.
With DR you simply position the patient like you normally would with a
film based system, set your techniques, and then make an exposure.
Within seconds an a digital image comes up on the workstation that can be
viewed, adjusted, annotated, printed to a laser, and sent to a PACS for
archiving. |

Computed
Radiography (CR) |
|
Computed
Radiography systems are used in conjunction with a conventional x-ray
system and they consist of a computer workstation, a plate scanner, and
cassettes with re-usable plates. You put a cassette
into your x-ray table or wall stand, position your patient, and then make
an exposure. From this point instead of going into a darkroom
with a processor, your scanner does the rest of the work and then within
30-60 seconds you have the digital image on the workstation just like a DR
system. The image can now be viewed, adjusted, annotated, printed to a
laser, and sent to a PACS for archiving. |

|
Conventional
X-Ray Equipment |
|
Conventional X-Ray equipment can be installed as an analog or digital
system depending on whether it will be used with film or a CR unit.
Just about any conventional x-ray system will work with CR units and some
conventional systems are even manufactured to be field upgradeable to DR
with factory parts. |

|
Picture
Archive Communication System (PACS) |
|
PACS is
probably the most important part of a complete digital configuration
whether it is CR or DR and it is one of the least considered and
understood components. Without a PACS you have digital images but no
way to archive them long term or distribute them around the facility to
be viewed. |

Laser Imagers |
|
Laser Imagers come in a variety of sizes and configurations. There
are table top models for small offices with single modalities up to
freestanding units for multiple modalities with film sorters. Some
print on only one size of film while others hold several different sizes.
Even though PACS has decreased the use of lasers they are still necessary
to have a hard copy of an image. |
|
|
|
Automatic Film Processors |
|
Film Processors come in many different sizes and with various features but
they all have one thing in common - their purpose.
All processors do the same thing which is develop, fix, rinse, and then
dry x-ray film. |
